Do you reside in the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) District? You might be if you live on Ames, River, or Bridge Streets or other areas as designated by the map below. The DDA is looking for volunteers to serve on the Development Area Citizens Council (DACC) for two meetings – one in October and one in November – to gather citizen input on the upcoming TIF Plan update.

If you are interested, please email Village Clerk Kaitlyn Szczypka at kszczypka@elkrapids.org no later than September 6, 2023. She will put your name on a list for DDA board consideration. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Kaitlyn.

The Village of Elk Rapids is seeking two laborers to join the Department of Public Works (DPW) crew. Full-time year-round, generous benefits, $20/hour. This role provides support to DPW operations and adjusts to seasonal peak needs. Essential duties include operating general hand tools and equipment that does not require a CDL, mowing and trimming Village properties, snow removal at Village properties,  maintaining gardens in partnership with the Beautification Commission as directed by the DPW Superintendent, collecting refuse around the Village, and tasks such as cleaning, painting, and making minor repairs to Village property and equipment.

  1. Proposed Ordinance 2023-08: Purchasing & Contracts – Amendment to §2-440 – 441 of the Code of Ordinances.

The proposed ordinance can be found on the Village’s website, elkrapids.org or a copy can be viewed during normal business hours at the Government Center.

The Village of Elk Rapids invites multi-disciplinary teams to submit proposals to provide professional design, engineering, and project management services for the Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor Redevelopment Project. Proposals should demonstrate a clear understanding of the project and provide a summary of the team’s qualifications, structure, as well as proposed deliverables. Proposals should also be responsive to the items presented in the RFP but can be enhanced where doing so benefits the project. Three (3) hard copies and one digital copy of the proposal are due by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Respondents must offer a proposal that will meet the scope of services, requests and general description of work activities identified in this RFP, while adding what the Respondent would have to offer.

The Bridge Street Housing Project Review Team will be holding two review sessions on June 28, 2023, at the Elk Rapids Government Center. At 3:00 p.m. the team will host Homestretch to go over their proposal, and at 4:00 the Revonare proposal will be reviewed. These informational sessions will give the team an opportunity to go over the proposals and ask clarifying questions. No decisions on how to move forward will happen at these sessions. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
