Are you interested in the plants and animals of our region and want to share that passion with others? Do you want to be a part of collecting important biological information that contributes to the management of beloved local natural areas? If so, then consider joining Green Elk Rapids, GTRLC, CAKE CISMA, and TOTM Watershed Council in this upcoming community science excursion at the Elk Rapids Marina! During this event we will learn about how to use a popular community science app, iNaturalist, to submit biological observations. Join us as we walk the nearby areas and discover the plants and animals that call it home. Using iNaturalist, we'll snap photos of the species we see, creating a fuller picture of the surrounding ecology. These observations will be viewable by the public as well as village and township land managers, providing more information for future management decisions. Staff from GTRLC will be present to guide our learning and give broader context about the importance of community science for various levels of conservation decisions, on the scale from local to international.
