Employment Opportunity: Village Clerk

The Village of Elk Rapids is recruiting for the position of Village Clerk. The duties for this position are:

  1. Attend all meetings of the Village Council; attend Commission meetings when requested.
  2. Maintain minutes, resolutions, ordinances, contracts, deeds, and other Village or Council documents.
  3. Assist Village commissions with public hearing requirements.
  4. Develops and maintains annual budget for assigned operations.
  5. Serve as “Freedom of Information Act” coordinator per Act No. 442 of PA 1976 as amended.
  6. Conduct all public bidding processes.
  7. Coordinate maintenance of Village’s Computer System, including hardware/software evaluation and upgrades, staff training, technical support, and system maintenance.
  8. Update and maintain village website, including requested social media applications.
  9. Assist certain human resource responsibilities such as coordinating employee benefits and more as detailed in job description.
  10. Other Duties as assigned.

Position requirements and preferences:

  1. Licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Michigan.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or related field preferred.
  3. 3-5 years related experience required.
  4. Good written and verbal communication skills, team building abilities, open door policy and accessible, grants management experience, personnel management skills, project management skills, accounting skills, financial management skills and computer literate.

Annual Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000 DOQ
