The dredging project was completed on Tuesday May 24th, 2022 and Veterans Memorial Beach is ready for the summer season to start! Here are some fun facts from the project:
- 5,000 Cubic yards of Kalkaska sand (State Sand of Michigan) was removed from the Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor channel and placed on Veterans Memorial Beach.
- The harbor channel is now a controlled depth of 12 feet.
- We renourished the Veterans Memorial Beach with the State Sand of Michigan (Kalkaska Sand). The previous year high water levels have dropped back to normal thus eroding away the sand. The Harbor has renourished the beach for the public at no cost to the Village.
In addition, the Veterans Memorial Beach bathroom is open and ready to go for Memorial Weekend!
